“there is a translation of mediocrity in my industry that says “it’ll fish”. it’s a phrase said in passing about how a fly tied poorly will still work to catch fish. i think this sums up what it means to be a jack of all trades. some people are built to pursue and thrive at one thing - i am not some people. i don’t thrive at one thing, i strive to be good at everything (even though i am shit at most). people need to pursue their passion, while playing the tricky balancing act of fulfilling their duty to society. some people say ‘do what you love and you will never work a day in your life’. that’s bullshit. instead, do what you love, always, and the days that are spent ‘working’ will become fulfilling and mentally rewarding. i do what i want, when i want, and i try in all things to create community and love in every space i find myself in at any given time. to me, truly, this must be the meaning of life.”
